Finally a car, the mall and Old San Juan

Wednesday at 10:30 in the morning we walked over to Charlie's Rental to pick up our rental car a white Kia.

Our first outing was to The Mall.

We went to the mall to look for a pair of hiking shoes for Elenita. Well guess who found a pair of hiking shoes yours truly. Even after TJ MAXX, Marshall's and various shoe stores my poor wife struck out. I think Puerto Rican woman only wear 6 inch heels. I guess we will continue to search. After this adventure we wandered over to the neighborhood of Isla Verde for some Cuban Food at The Metropol. After eating a heavy meal we needed to walk. We walked through the neighborhood of hotels, condos and along the beach. There will be no dinner tonight.

On Thursday we decided to go into old San Juan early for breakfast. Our first stop is the Cafe Mallorca for a Mallorca and egg sandwich. Mallorca is a powered sugar roll.

Then we walked along the Bay of San Juan called La Prinsesa with the walled part of the city of the right.

It turned out to be a very warm morning.  After our bay walk we headed into town and Howard found a nice shirt on sale,  His poor wife found nothing. Oh well we will continue searching. We stopped in this plaza for a rest and Elenita sat next to her new friend.

After a warm morning we headed back to the condo and ended up on the beach for about 2 hours.

At about 5:30 we headed out to a Christmas tree lighting festival in a local park. There was food, arts and crafts and some wonderful music. The first band was a Puerto Rican group and the second one was young children and they were amazing.  The most wonderful experience of this is that we were with local neighborhood people.
