El Yunque

One of the really cool things about Puerto Rico is that nothing is Far. About 45 minutes from San Juan is a beautiful National Park. The only national tropical rain forest park in the United States. This park is a unique beauty of tropical vegetation, water and mountains. We watched a very interesting documentary narrated by the actor Benicio del Toro about the history of this park which is one of the oldest In the Americas.

Our first stop was La Torre. We climbed to the top for panoramic views of the park.

We then headed toward the water fall trail. There are two trails down to the falls. We opted for the less traveled and apparently the more beautiful one.

The trail to the water falls.

The creek along the trail.

The falls.

After spending several hours in this beautiful paradise we headed back to the condo but first we stopped at an outlet mall. Our next trip will be Sunday to Ponce a colonia town on the Caribbean side of the island.
