Panama City

We arrived in Panama City at about 2:30 Panama time after a 3 hour flight from Puerto Rico. Resting and going out to dinner was pretty much our first night. We went to the old city Casco Viejo.

We are staying in a neighborhood that was the old Canal Zone with beautiful homes. Our home for 5 days.

We woke up early and decided on a 7:00 am walk up up Ancon hill. About a 1 hour climb to the flag that was but here 34 years ago after the agreement was signed to turn over the Canal Zone to Panama. This is the highest point in the city.

The road up the hill has a lot of curves. Here is are a couple of warning signs.

We returned to a wonderful breakfast.

Pretty much most of today was spent in the old city Casco Viejo. This part of the city began construction in late 1600's.  The renovation had been going on for quite awhile and continues today. It is amazing to see the contrast between the old and the new. What has been completed is incredible. Today there are many restaurants, bars and wonderful outdoor cafés.

There was art on some walls.

After a wonderful late lunch we walked along the ocean toward the new city.

Tha modern city skyline. Pretty impressive hey.

Well being in Panama we decided that going on a tour of the canal is something that we should do.
